7th Grade: 7th Grade Lady Bears Finish 2nd at MEC Tournament! The 7th Grade Lady Bears are MEC Tournament Runner-Up! 🏐🐻 The Lady Bears came out on fire and played some of their best volleyball of the season! From the very first match at 8:00 a.m., they brought great energy, intensity, and focus all day long. An early morning match didn’t slow these girls down—they were awake, ready to go, and ready to compete! The Bears opened the tournament against Blue River Valley and came away with a convincing 25-6, 25-18 victory. Cora Greene led the serving attack with 9 aces, while Hailey Grove added 4 aces and 1 dig. Berkley Taylor recorded 1 ace and 2 kills, and Jovie Dunlap added 2 aces and 1 assist. Finley Whitehead had 2 digs, while Hailey and Cora each added a dig. Harper Robinson contributed a dig, and London Engle had some great passes and a great serve. In their second match, the Lady Bears faced a tough Selma team that had defeated them just the week before. The Bears came out with tremendous intensity and took the first set 25-15. Selma responded in the second, winning 25-8, but the Lady Bears refused to let the match slip away. They battled back and won the deciding set 15-11 to advance to the championship! Cora once again led the way with 2 aces, 10 kills, and 6 digs. Jillian Goad contributed 1 ace, 1 assist, and 4 digs, while Jovie had 1 ace, 1 assist, and 2 digs. Berkley added 1 ace and 2 digs, Hailey had 2 digs, and Harper recorded a kill. In the championship match, the Bears faced a tough Cowan team that did a great job setting up their offense and attacking the ball. The Lady Bears battled through some incredible rallies but ultimately fell 16-25, 21-25. Even with the loss, there was plenty to be proud of. Jovie finished with 2 kills, 3 assists, and 2 digs. Jillian had 1 ace, 1 kill, 1 assist, and 2 digs, while Cora added 1 ace, 3 kills, and 2 digs. Hailey had 1 ace, 1 kill, and 2 digs, Berkley had 1 ace, 1 kill, and 1 dig, and Finley contributed an assist. The Lady Bears continue to improve with each match, learning to play at their best and preparing for the next level of volleyball. 8th Grade: We traveled to Wes-Del for MEC finishing 3rd place falling to Selma in the Semi-Final. 1st Game- against Blue River ( 25-13, 25-14) Blakely Burge 4 Aces, 10 Assist, 2 Digs.
