Alex Middleton’s Clutch Hitting Propels Monroe Central Varsity Bears To Victory Over Richmond By GameChanger Media Alex Middleton drove in four runs on four hits to lead Monroe Central Varsity Bears past Richmond 10-5 on Wednesday. Middleton doubled in the seventh scoring two, doubled in the fifth scoring one, and doubled in the sixth scoring one. Monroe Central Varsity Bears were the first to get on the board in the first when a passed ball scored one run. Jones grounded out, which helped Richmond tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. In the bottom of the third, Richmond broke up the tie when Jones singled, scoring two runs. Then a single by Belanga followed to extend the lead to 4-1. Monroe Central Varsity Bears took the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Middleton doubled to right field, Levi Pence doubled down the left field line, Carson Siekmann doubled down the left field line, and Monroe Central Varsity Bears scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run. Mathena grounded out, which helped Richmond tie the game at five in the bottom of the fifth. Monroe Central Varsity Bears took the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Middleton doubled to center field, Pence singled up the middle, Hunter Gard singled to left field, and Conner Baker singled to center field, each scoring one run. Myles Oliphant earned the win for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The southpaw gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking one. Hall took the loss for Richmond. The hurler went one and one-third innings, giving up six runs on eight hits, striking out none and walking two. Isaac Middleton started on the hill for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The pitcher surrendered three hits and five runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking three. Moore opened the game for Richmond. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking two. Monroe Central Varsity Bears amassed 15 hits in the game. Pence, Gard, and Jed Ferguson each collected multiple hits for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Monroe Central Varsity Bears had a strong eye at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Pence and Siekmann led the team with two bases on balls each. Monroe Central Varsity Bears turned one double play in the game. Jones drove the middle of the lineup, leading Richmond with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Richmond stole four bases in the game.
