7th Grade: The 7th Grade Lady Bears hosted Selma in the Bear Den on Thursday evening and mauled the Braves by a score of 34-29, earning their 16th win of the season. The Lady Bears got off to a hot start early thanks to 8 first quarter points from Scarlett Davis. A slow second quarter saw the young Bears held to just 2 points on just 2 free throws. In the 3rd quarter, Alexa Tinsman took over, scoring 13 in the period thanks to her tough defense, offensive rebounding and great lead passes from her teammates. Scoring for the Lady Bear were Davis with 11, Delainee Whitehead with 6 and Tinsman with a game high 17. Peyton Meyers, Harper Whitehead, Kendall Johnson, Amelia Brown and Nia Carpenter all played tough and contributed in the win. The Bears host Union City next Thursday in Hall Gym. GO BEARS!!! 8th Grade: The 8th grade girls basketball team got their 17th win of the season last night in the Den, defeating the Selma Braves 42-13. Everyone saw substantial minutes and contributed to the great team defense. Scoring for the night was as follows. Izzy McGrath 17, Mati McConnell 7, Brynlee Dumpert 6, Claire Cheesman 5, Mila Morris 3, Ada Wagner and Landry Taylor 2. The ladies will not play again until next Thursday at home against the Union City Indians.
