7th Grade: The 7th Grade Lady Bears hosted Selma on Wednesday evening for the first round of the MEC conference tournament and defeated the Braves, 29-20. The Bears struggled scoring early and found themselves down 7-9 at the end of the first. Solid defense kept Selma to a single 2nd quarter field goal, with MC eventually taking the lead and never trailing the rest of the game. The young Lady Bears were able to maintain their composure during stretches of adversity and physical play and were able to pull away in the final period. Scoring for MC was led by Delainee Whitehead with 11, Alexa Tinsman with 8, Remmie Morrison and Scarlett Davis with 4 and Mabrey Cheesman added 2. The girls open a Lady Bear triple header on Thursday evening when they host Wes-Del. GO BEARS!!! 8th Grade: The 8th grade girls basketball team continued their winning ways last night in the first round of the MEC tournament defeating the Selma Braves last night 33-7 in Hall gymnasium. The young ladies struggled from the field for the second straight game but played great team defense. Gracie McCreery and Brynlee Dumpert didn't get in the scoring column but contributed greatly on the defensive end and getting their team mates open on offense. Scoring for the night was as follows. Landry Taylor 9, Mila Morris 8, Claire Cheesman, Mati McConnell and Izzy McGrath 4, Ada Wagner and Lillie Morery 2. The team will be in action tomorrow against Wes-Del leading into the Girls varsity game in the Den.
